The B&B Farm that we stayed in
which was north of Haltwistle in the Northumberland National Park.

Housestead is the site of extensive Roman Ruins. As you can see we had perfect weather especially for walking, just enough breeze to keep us cool.

This old working farm house sat all alone near by the track we were walking along, and what a view.

These photos were taken in the Lakes District of Ullswater and Windermere Lakes regions, we now know we will have to come back here again to further explore as it is just magnificient.

Visit to Belton House & Woolsthorpe Manor 9-08-07

Last Thursday we decided to have a day out and picnic at Belton House. It is in Lincolnshire north of where we are living. Belton House was built by Sir John Brownlow between 1685-88. We have been here before and loved the grounds, of course the house is magnificent inside, but the grounds are great especially for walking in and picnicking.

In the afternoon we drove over to Woolsthorpe Manor the home of Isaac Newton where he formulated his major works between 1665 and1667.

Thought the adult and child toilet seat we found in one of the out houses rather fascinating.

Here is the direct descendant of the apple tree that the apple fell from onto young Isaac's' head, hence getting him thinking about the force of gravity and developing his ideas and changing history.

That's it for now until our next trip.

Eurorail experience.....

This I hope will show a bit more of what happens when you drive through the Euro Tunnel. Actually you really only drive through the train that takes you through the Euro Tunnel. I took this photo as we were driving through the train.

.......This was taken after we were able to leave the bus to walk about in the train. Each carriage is sealed off from the other carriages.

People Walking about stretching their legs and going off to the toilets.

....The smaller doors either side of the middle shutter were where we went in and out through to go through to the sitting area and toilet block which is now sliding away from the front of the carriage and separating itself so that the doors can be folded up after the center shutter rolls up.

The Bus eventually was able to drive off to the right out of the front of the train and up the ramp. The car trains have two decks for the cars and of course take longer to load and unload. We had arrived in France and were on our way to the customs depot.
